Chiltepin - Hermosillo Select

Hermosillo Select chiltepin is a premium selection of the wild chiltepin pepper (Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum), originally sourced from the Hermosillo region in Sonora, Mexico. Hermosillo Select has grown well in our humid coastal MS urban farm. 

This variety is celebrated for producing abundant clusters of small, spherical, bright-red peppers with intense heat, complemented by uniquely fruity, smoky undertones. The plants are compact, bushy, and highly resilient, thriving in hot, dry conditions and demonstrating drought tolerance once established.

Favored in authentic Mexican dishes, particularly salsas and sauces, Hermosillo Select chiltepin provides bold spiciness and rich flavor. It’s excellent fresh, pickled, or dried into fiery chili flakes, reflecting its wild heritage and culinary versatility.
